Murat Turan

Born in Istanbul in 1988, Murat Turan entered Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Painting, in 2007 and graduated in 2013; at the same university Turan completed a master's degree on the figure of the pet in contemporary Turkish painting. Turan's paintings deal with the individual caught between identity and nothingness, the sense of belonging, and the relationship between people and the city; Turan places solitary, pensive figures in earth tones within spaces that give the feeling of a place that does not exist, and often includes pets. Turan has taken part in many exhibitions in Türkiye and abroad and works in a studio in Kadıköy.
