Sema Maşkılı

Sema Maşkılı is a painter. Maşkılı has held solo exhibitions since 2006; the sixth, “Güç Canavarlar Yaratır,” was shown at Istanbul Concept Gallery in 2023. In 2022 Maşkılı received awards in art competitions in Canada and Luxembourg. Taking the human body as a starting point, Maşkılı's work turns to questions of violence, ego, and existence; through compositions built from intertwined, colliding, and deformed bodies, Maşkılı questions the pressure the majority exerts on those who are different.
